Kathy Hellman is pregnant and exhausted from losing friends and family to an arsonist.

Kathy and her husband Jack—an arson investigator—have relocated once again. Since the house fire that took the lives of Kathy’s parents and the blaze a year later that killed her brother, they’ve been followed and tormented by a murderous pyromaniac. Jack knows he’s the prime suspect and wants nothing more than to solve this mystery and clear the blemish of uncertainty from his professional reputation. Then the home of Kathy’s doctor is set afire and the entire family perishes. While Jack is on the scene sifting through the ashes—hoping for proof that it’s not ‘their’ arsonist—the terrifying phone calls begin anew, assaulting Kathy with recorded screams of the victims. Interesting info about pyromaniacs and suspenseful plot from beginning to end. Lots of red herrings throughout–tease the reader about who the culprit is. Good build with plenty of tension at the end. I won’t be a spoiler–you’ll have to read it. A good read.

The end filled with suspense trying myself to figure out who the arsonist was. I could not put this book down.

I burned right through Night Terror, a fascinating portrayal of an arsonist’s need to destroy the woman he’s insistent upon terrorizing. I was riveted from the start. By the end, my heart raced and my pulse thumped. I highly recommend this thriller.

Pyromaniacs and suspense readers should both love this book. It’s well-written with lots of character development and lots of fires- well-described and experienced by the characters. There were also twists and turns to the plot and a very interesting group of suspects. Two of the main characters suspect each other of being the arsonist, which is a fresh approach to the material. Kathy is an interesting and sympathetic protagonist. At about 7t%, I could not put the book down. I had to read it through to the end. Many books let you down with unsatisfying endings, but not this one. Great ending and resolution. I would definitely read another book by this author.

Leaving his warm bed and wife behind, Jack re-sets the house alarms and hopes against hope that Kathy might sleep through the dreaded horror. She doesn’t. As so many times before, she moves through the house, lighting every lamp she can find not knowing the firebug watches.

Someone is pursuing the Hellmens from town to town, house to house, setting fire to surrounding Victorians that Kathy loves. The fires are getting closer to the couple with each new burn. Who is after them? Or is it just Kathy they want? Always, those affected are friends, neighbors, relatives. Despite his outstanding reputation for solving cases, Jack is helpless.
Leading the reader to suspect first one and then another possible terrorist, the author drops crumbs of hints to entice an assumption of guilt only to brush them away. Deaths and destruction mount leaving the characters drained from constant stress. When resolution arrives, it is from an unexpected quarter.
Will a series find the couple evolving into a team of investigators or will author Winrich turn to other characters and story threads? Intriguing plotlines, solid character development and red herrings abound in this writer’s wealth of words.

This is a great read. Kept me guessing who the pyro was all the way through. Lots of twists and turns, new clues, new characters, new facts that complicate your efforts. Very well done. Congratulations!

At about 75%, I could not put the book down. I had to read it through to the end. Many books let you down with unsatisfying endings, but not this one. Great ending and resolution. I would definitely read another book by this author.
